As we near the end of January, we all tend to do some reflecting on the resolutions we set at the beginning of the year. Have you stuck with your New Year’s resolution so far? If not, you still have time to make some changes that can benefit everyone and the environment.
Throughout the rest of the year, I challenge you to increase your effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle plastic bags, wraps, and sacks. Each one of these actions can help reduce litter and ensure that the items are disposed of properly. Here are a few examples of how you can incorporate this challenge into your daily routine:
- Reduce: If you don’t need a plastic bag, don’t take one. Many times we are unaware that our purchases do not require a bag. If possible, bring plastic bags you have stored at home for reuse or simply carry the purchased products out by hand.
- Reuse: Why limit plastic bags to only carrying your purchases? There are plenty of ways you can reuse plastic bags around the house.
- Recycle: When you’re done using a plastic bag or other plastic film products, take them with you to the grocery store for recycling. Here is a great locator you can use to find your nearest drop-off location.
